Sveti Petar Makarska: Sunbathing at the lighthouse & magical moments in the secluded beach bar
Swimming at the lighthouse: A prime spot on the Adriatic Sea
The area around Svjetionik Sveti Petar (built in 1884) is not a typical pebble beach.
Here, you swim on flat, sun-warmed rocky plateaus.
The panorama: You have arguably the best view in the region.
Before you stretches the endless expanse of the Adriatic Sea, to your left the port of Makarska, and to your right the silhouette of the island of Brač.
The water: Since there are no shallow, pebbly areas here, the water is immediately deep and a deep, vibrant emerald green. It's the perfect spot for experienced swimmers and cliff jumpers.

Summer tip: Magical sunset at the beach bar on Sveti Petar
If you're planning a trip to Makarska this summer, there's plenty to see and do. Nature, beach life, and, with the hot temperatures, plenty of relaxation are definitely needed. In the evenings, a glass of wine or a cocktail is a must. No matter where you are in Makarska, we always want to know where the nearest beautiful beach is. Swimming, sunbathing, beach volleyball, or water sports like sailing and surfing – the options are endless. And of course, a beach bar or two is essential.
A real hotspot is the beach bar located on Sveti Petar. You can easily reach it on foot and cool off from the summer heat with refreshing drinks.
The view is an absolute highlight: From here, you have a fantastic view of all of Makarska and can fully enjoy the sunset. It's also a place where you can truly unwind. It opens at 9 a.m., so you can relax and watch the beach life unfold while enjoying your first coffee. A particularly great feature: This bar is secluded from other bars and is the only one on the entire Sveti Petar peninsula. Here you can enjoy your cocktail, watch the sunset and simply listen to the sea.

Everything about the nudist area: heat and shade
Sveti Petar is indeed a wooded oasis, but that's mainly true for the upper part of the peninsula along the hiking trails. However, if you venture to the rocky niches below the lighthouse to enjoy the freedom of naturism, things are quite different.
Intense Heat on the Rocks Let's be honest: Anyone planning to lie naked in the sun all day here should be extremely careful. In the rugged rocky areas right by the water, there's virtually no natural shade.
The pine trees grow higher up on the cliffs, but down below, the smooth, light-colored rock reflects the heat even more intensely. UV Hazard: Without the protection of clothing, your skin is completely exposed to direct radiation and reflections from the water.
The Shade Trap: Many hope for shade from the high cliffs, but depending on the sun's position (especially between noon and 3 p.m.), the sun beats down vertically into the bays.
Tip: Those who are sensitive to sunlight should use the early morning hours or the late afternoon when the peninsula itself begins to cast long shadows over the bathing areas.

Getting there: On foot in the city center
Sveti Petar is the very definition of "close by." Directions: From the main square (Kačićev trg), simply walk towards the harbor and then turn right, up the peninsula.
A pleasant 10-minute stroll. Parking: Parking spaces at the harbor are scarce and expensive.
It's best to come on foot to fully appreciate the peninsula's natural beauty.
